Happy Holiday and Best Wishes for the New Year!

As 2007 comes to a close please consider being part of the LGBT and friends community's response to world need by making a donation to Rainbow World Fund. A donation to RWF creates visibility. As LGBT people we know the tremendous power of coming out. RWF provides a platform and a united voice for LGBT compassion and concern to be seen and heard throughout the world. The visibility that RWF provides allows people to see that LGBT people are engaged and positively contributing to the world.

Here are just a few examples of what your donation to RWF can do:

$15 - Give the gift of solar powered light to a child in Africa! Much of the continent is without electricity and most people cannot afford candles or other light sources, the lack of artificial light really impacts children as they are unable to read and study at night. There are also economic, safety and health consequences because of the lack of light. People use candles, charcoal fires and gasoline or kerosene lamps for illumination. These forms of light can be expensive and are linked to poor indoor air quality, respiratory health risks, and have negative environmental effects. You can deliver a flashlight to a community in Africa for only $15 which will hugely impact the intellectual development of children. Through our partnership with Africare these flash lights will be distributed to families with a child who has reached grade three. Donate now: http://www.rainbowfund.org/donate

$75 - Give a dairy goat or 10 laying hens for a family in Guatemala. A goat or ten hens will be given to a rural family in Guatemala along with three classes on the care of farm animals and organic farming methods. These animals provide a great source of ongoing protein through dairy milk and eggs. They can provide a source of income for the family and the community. Each participating family gives the first born back to the program to be given to the next family. Donate now: http://www.rainbowfund.org/donate

$200 - Help save the next generation of young Africans. Sponsor the salary of a HIV educator/case manager in South Africa. RWF funds the education of young adults to be HIV/AIDS peer educators. After receiving intensive training in HIV prevention and care the new peer educators return to their home communities to work with other young people. The full-time peer educators receive a stipend ($200/month), supplies, a bicycle and ongoing support from this program. We are focusing our efforts in one of Africa's hardest hit areas: South Africa. Fund a peer educator for a month for $200 or a whole year for only $2400! Donate now: http://www.rainbowfund.org/donate

$1000 - Sponsor the school tuition of eight children in Central America. This will cover the yearly tuition, books and uniform for up to eight elementary school age children. In many parts of Central America people live on less than two dollars a day so going to school is out of reach for most children. Many families can not even afford the cost of a required uniform let alone books and tuition. Give the gift of education, it lasts a life time and keeps on giving exponentially. $20,000 - Provide safe water to an entire village in Honduras. Safe water for drinking and hygiene is a basic necessity of life that most of us take for granted, yet for much of the world a safe supply of water does not exist. RWF has funded water systems in Honduras that have dramatically improved the lives of entire villages. Help us continue this work. Our projects construct gravity fed mountain spring water systems for direct access to water in homes including taps and latrines for sanitation. These projects also include major educational focuses on hygiene, water management, improving construction skills and environmental sustainability. Donate now: http://www.rainbowfund.org/donate

$35,000 - Clear and entire minefield in Cambodia. Worldwide an estimated 110 million landmines in 64 countries remain buried and waiting to explode. In Cambodia 10 million remain buried. RWF helps fund the clearance of minefields and for the development of professional expertise locally in Cambodia. Landmines kill or injure three people an hour, 72 a day, 2,200 a month, 26,000 a year, year after year. Eighty percent of the victims are civilians, thousands of them children. Help a community reclaim it's land. Donate now: http://www.rainbowfund.org/donate

RWF is an all-volunteer run organization and we work hard to multiply every dollar we receive. In recent years we have grown very every dollar received for RWF program services 27 times into monetary aid, medicine and supplies, which we then distributed. Our overhead costs have averaged 3.6% percent or less since our inception.
