Thanks to Everyone who gave so Generously for Tsunami Relief- Your Contributions Saved Lives

The overwhelming generosity of the LGBT community showed itself in brilliant colors. Since the devastation of the tsunami, Rainbow World Fund has collected more than $240,000 towards relief efforts in the affected areas. The funds are bring used to help keep people alive. Your donations helped CARE accomplish the following: Set up reconstruction programs including a commitment to build 6,800 new houses in Sri Lanka (several hundred temporary houses already are in use). Delivered more than 125,000 safe water kits in Indonesia; water distribution is ongoing in camps still serving hundreds of people. Provided food and essential items to more than 4,000 households in 28 villages in Somalia; water distribution continues in hard-hit villages. Established 40 revolving loan programs for community groups in Thailand.
Trained more than 900 community workers to deal with stress and emotional issues in India. Long-term plans encompass projects in education, health, economic development and environmental recovery, with the goal of strengthening communities.
